Académie Lafayette is a French immersion public school in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. We are a public charter school with three campuses: Cherry (K-5), Oak (K-5) and Armour (Middle and High School). A charter school is a public school that functions semi-autonomously with its own school board. Académie Lafayette started in 1999 with 250 students and 20 teachers. Today our school has 1,500 students and 150 teachers and staff members. Because our language of instruction is French, our teachers come from all over the world: Algéria, Belgium, Burundi, Cameroun, Canada, China, France, Mexico, Rwanda, Sénégal, Togo and also the USA. Académie Lafayette is the biggest French immersion public school in the United States and ranks in the top 10 of all Missouri school districts.
